English Garden Design and Installation
We love to install & design English Gardens because they reflect the beauty of the Irish landscape of our heritage. The look of the English garden style dates back to the 18th century in Europe.
In contrast to the formal look of the continental garden, often called Garden á la Française, the English garden presents a idealized view of nature so common in Romantic era gardens. They are often inspired by landscape paintings by artists such as Claude Lorraine and Nicolas Poussin.
A traditional English garden usually included a lake, sweeps of gently rolling lawns set against groves of trees, and recreations of classical temples, Gothic ruins, bridges, and other picturesque architecture, designed to recreate an idyllic pastoral landscape. Other English gardens, known as Anglo-Chinese gardens, were inspired by classical Chinese Gardens.
Schedule a meeting with us to discuss your interest in creating and designing a traditional English Garden in your Santa Barbara, Ventura, Santa Ynez, Oxnard, Ventura or Ojai yard.

The “uncultivated” look of the English garden later spread to the continent and across the pond to American landscapes. The look of the English garden offers an Aphroditic approach to the wildness inherent in nature. It represents a love affair between the humanity and nature.
